Scott Forking Bucketwise

I used to keep track of personal finances with Microsoft Money, but it’s not exactly suited to my needs.

Enter Bucketwise, a personal finance rails app that’s open source – hence ready to be customized.

Bucketwise was created by Jamis Buck, who graciously released it to the open source community.

So far I’ve only made a single, trivial change on my fork: while I program on Ubuntu most of my other PCs are Windows, where those special characters are indecipherable, and I added tooltips (title attributes) to the links to make them more usable.

As I continue to use Bucketwise I may run into other areas that could use improvement, and I’ll gladly share any such changes via Github. It definitely feels nice to have a sensible personal finance app that is also one I can modify whenever I need to!
