Realistic interiors. True to life surfaces and textures. Meticulous lighting. These are just a few of the features demonstrated in this project. Everything here is designed with one goal in mind: to capture realistic images of a virtual space. This virtual space just happens to be based on a single space existing in reality, the very office where this entire project was completed. Why? Because it serves as a convenient reference. Yet the techniques used are suitable for visualizing most any type of space, real or non-existent. Including those that don't exist... yet. By means of careful planning, attention to detail, and perseverance, virtual spaces can be convincingly rendered. The possibilities don't stop simply with still images and simple camera pans; on a larger scale, entire houses and buildings can be visualized in 3D and virtual walkthrough animation can take viewers on a guided tour of the entire premises. What better way to show off the possibilities of an architectural design, or an undeveloped piece of real estate, to clients, buyers, and investors? This kind of visualization affords the chance to view an idea in utter realism from any angle, and still leaves room for changes to be made before the first brick is laid. Finally, the sample animation presented here is a small compressed format suitable for the web, but it can also be used to create a full DVD video presentation if desired. There's even the possibility of an interactive DVD interface that would allow the viewer to explore a larger building or virtual space using the navigational controls on his or her remote control. |
